A Record
A DNS A record, also known as an “Address” record, is a type of DNS (Domain Name System) record that maps a hostname to its corresponding IPv4 address.
When a user enters a domain name into their browser, the browser sends a request to a DNS server to resolve the domain name into an IP address that can be used to locate the website’s server. The DNS server looks up the A record for the domain name in its database and returns the associated IP address to the user’s browser, allowing the browser to establish a connection with the server.
For example, if the A record for the domain name “example.com” is set to the IP address “192.0.2.1”, any requests made to “example.com” will be directed to the server with the IP address “192.0.2.1”.
A DNS A record is essential for the proper functioning of a website or any online service, as it is used to connect a domain name to its associated IP address, enabling users to access the website or service.
